Published by the Nigerian Association for Aquatic Sciences which was founded in 1984 with the objectives of fostering the pursuit of scientific research and dissemination of research findings in the area of Aquatic Biology and Aquatic Sciences, the Journal of Aquatic Sciences first made its appearance in 1986.
Until recently published as an annual volume, the journal now appears as two issues per annum.
NIGERIAN ASSOCIATION FOR AQUATIC SCIENCES
The Nigerian Association for Aquatic Sciences is a non-political and non-governmental organization of over 1,500 professional scientists involved in planning, management, extension, research and education. The association was founded in February 1984 by Prof. E. B. C Ufodike. The maiden volume of her journal, Journal of Aquatic Sciences was published in April 1986. The objectives of the Association are to foster the pursuit of scientific research and dissemination of research findings in all area of Aquatic Sciences and to join in these goals with similar scientists.

Membership is open to all individuals and organizations that uphold the objectives of the Association. Information on membership fee is available from the Editorial Office. Members with distinguished contribution to the Association or to Aquatic Sciences would be decorated with the title FELLOW OF ASSOCIATION OF AQUATIC SCIENCES (FAAS)

Each volume costs N550.00 ($100.00/£50.00) for individual subscribers and N2,500.00 ($220.00/£110) for libraries and organization. Individual readers of the Journal and non-profit making libraries are permitted to make a fair use of the material in it. Any of the articles here may be cited in a scientific publication with due acknowledgement. No part of this publication may be otherwise reproduced, republished or store in retrieval system or transmitted by any means, electronic or mechanical without the written consent of the Editor-in-Chief.
