Instructions to authors..../ Instructions aux auteurs....

Any researcher in the field of language teaching is free to submit papers to the Journal. for Language Teaching. Papers of high standard from outside South Africa which prove to be of general importance to the teaching of languages, may be submitted to the Journal.

Selection of papers

A strict policy of selection is adhered to. All papers submitted for publication in the Journal for Language Teaching are sent to at least two peer reviewers for blind peer reviewing. Reports on these reviews are compiled by the editor and then sent to the author(s). If one or both of the reviews are negative, the author(s) may resubmit a revised copy. The revised copy is then again sent to one or two reviewers, depending on the first reports.

A list of relevant questions (attached) is always sent to the reviewers. Reviewers may also make additional comments and may comment on the paper itself.

Members of the Editorial Board and peer reviewers

All the members of the Editorial Board are chosen because of their research work and the quality and quantity of their publications, locally and abroad.

The Journal also has a list of additional peer reviewers that is constantly extended – all of them specialists in their respective fields of language teaching.

Language policy

The Editorial Board has no language restriction or fixed quota for papers in the Journal. Nearly all papers are in English and some in Afrikaans. If a paper is written in Afrikaans (or in any other South African language except for English), it must be supported by a substantial abstract in English, with an English heading and with English keywords.

Full address particulars of all contributors to the Journal are published with their papers.

Submission of manuscripts

The following must be submitted to the Editor:

1.• A letter of submission with

(i) the full address and e-mail particulars of the author(s) and the title of the paper.

In the case of more than one author, the name of the author designated to receive the correspondence and to be responsible for the payment of the page fees, must be marked with an *

(ii) titles, names, full addresses and e-mails of three scholars in the same field.

2. A copy of the paper per e-mail, or on a marked diskette accompanied by a hard copy per snail mail. Full address and e-mail particulars must also be on the paper. The Abstract must be on the same document. Keywords must follow the Abstract.

• Electronic documents must be named with the author's surname.

• Do not register and do not send per courier.

Submission of a paper is taken to imply that it has not been published elsewhere and that it is not under consideration elsewhere, and also that it is language edited.

All manuscripts are sent to two scholars for blind peer review by the Editor.

Further information will be sent to the author(s) after the reviewing.
