The Nigerian Journal of Paediatrics, published quarterly, seeks to promote and advance the practice and study of Paediatrics and Child Health in Nigeria as well as in other African countries and the rest of the world. The editors, therefore, welcome contributions relating to all aspects of Paediatrics and Child Health from workers throughout the world. Contributions may be in the form of original articles, reviews, annotations, preliminary communications, case reports, letters etc.
Submission of Papers
Manuscripts and all editorial correspondence should be submitted to the editorial office, Nigerian Journal of
Paediatrics, Department of Paediatrics, University College Hospital, Ibadan. Submission of paper will be taken to imply that it contains original work which has not been, or will not be published elsewhere; abstracts in the proceedings etc, are excluded. Permission to republish either in part or wholly must be obtained from the Editor-in-Chief.
Instructions to Authors
Articles, not exceeding 10 printed pages, should be written in English and typed, double-spaced on one side of the paper only, with a left-hand margin of 4cm. All articles, typed on A-4 size paper, must be submitted, in triplicate. The title of the paper, the name(s) and initial(s) of the author(s), their current appointments, the place of work and three to six keywords using, where possible, terms of the Medical Subjects Headings list from Index Medicus should be typed on a single sheet of paper. A brief structured summary, not exceeding 200 words should also be typed on a separate sheet of paper. For clarity of the summary, the author(s) should use the headings: Background, Objectives, Design, Patients and Participants, Methods, Results and Conclusions. Unstructured summaries may be submitted for review articles, case reports and letter to the editor.
Illustrations
Figures should be drawn in black Indian ink and numbered with Arabic numerals; the legends to the figures should be typed on separate sheets. Glossy photographs of figures, charts etc, must be submitted. Figures should be numbered with pencil lightly on the back and the top indicated. Tables should be typed on separate papers and numbered with Roman numerals and each table should be given a short descriptive title or heading. Authors should indicate in the text where figures, charts and tables are to appear.
References
References in the test should be numbered consecutively in the order in which they are first cited, using Arabic numerals (the Vancouver style). References given at the end of the paper should be listed in a separate sheet of paper in the order in which they are first cited. The full title or the article or book and the first and last page numbers of the particular paper, or chapter should be given. The name of the Journal should be abbreviated according to the style used in Index Medicus.

Authors should not cite articles that are still in the press.
SI Units currently used for scientific measurements, should be used in the text, tables and illustrations.
Proof
Galley proofs may be sent to the author designated; the proofs must be returned to the Editor-in-Chief within a week. Authors will be required to pay for any major alterations in the proofs.
Reprints
Reprints should be ordered when proofs are returned to the Editor-in-Chief. Ten reprints only of each article, will be supplied free of charge.

Papers accepted for publication remain the copyright of the Journal.
