Four copies of the manuscript, or a computer disk which has been prepared by means of a standard word processing programme, should be submitted to The Managing Editor, S.E.E., Bureau for Economic Research, Private Bag 5050, Stellenbosch, 7599, South Africa. The editors do not accept responsibility for damage to, or loss of papers or disks submitted.
Papers must be in English or Afrikaans.
Typed manuscripts should be on one side of the page only, double spaced and with wide margins.
The length of a paper should not exceed 20 A4 size pages to text. All pages should be numbered consecutively.
The cover page should be a title page stating: title, author(s), affiliation(s) and mailing address.
Each manuscript should be accompanied by an English abstract (max. 150 words), presented on a separate sheet.
References must be listed alphabetically by the surname of the first author. List author(s), date, title,
journal name, volume, and pages for journal references; and author(s), date, title, city, and publisher for book references. Respective examples of references to an article and a book are:
Dawes, R M en Corrigan, B(1974): "Linear Models in Decision Making", Psychological
Bulletin, 8(2), 95-106.
Brown, R G (1959): Statistical Forecasting for Inventory Control, New York: McGraw-Hill.
All references should be indicated in the manuscript by the author's surname followed by the year of publication and page numbers if applicable, e.g. (Brown, 1959: 106-108).
Footnotes should be avoided if possible. If used, they should be numbered consecutively and placed on a separate page.
Figures should be large-size originals (each on a separate sheet), drawn in black ink and carefully lettered. They should have an arabic number and a caption. In the text, figures must be referred to as: see Figure 1; or Figures 2 and 3, etc. Their approximate location in the text should be indicated as follows:
Tables must be typed on separate sheets and should have a short caption and an arabic number. The reference to tables in the main text and the indication of their approximate location is the same as for figures.
A biographical sketch of 50 words must be supplied for each author.
Any manuscripts not conforming to the above instructions or not written in impeccable English or Afrikaans shall be returned for revision before publication.
One proof will be sent to the author. Corrected proofs should be returned to the chief editor within three days of receipt.
Authors are invited to provide names, addresses, and fields of interest of 4 - 6 persons (outside their institution) who are qualified to act as referees for their paper. The editors will try to ensure that at least one referee comes from this group.
