Agence francophone pour l'enseignement supérieur et la recherche/Association des universités partiellement our entièrement de language française (AUPELF-UREF)
Assists universities and institutions of higher education in French-speaking countries to undertake joint studies and aims to strengthen collaboration among institutions. Association for the Development of Education in Africa (ADEA)

CAB International (CABI)

Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA)

Centre for Development Research (CDR)-Copenhagen/Center for Udviklingsforkning

Centre for International Research and Advisory Networks (CIRAN)
Part of the Dutch agency NUFFIC, CIRAN promotes international co-operation in the field of research in various disciplines, with a focus on social, economical and technological development in the countries of the South. http://www.nuffic.nl/ciran/


The Commonwealth Foundation

CTA (ACP-EU Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation)
The aim of CTA is to develop and provide services which improve access to information for agricultural and rural development to strengthen the capacity of ACP countries to produce, acquire, exchange and utilize information in these areas. http://www.agricta.org/


Danish International Development Authority (DANIDA)

Department for International Development (DFID)

Deutsche Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit (GTZ)

Deutsche Stiftung für Internationale Entwicklung/ German Foundation for International Development (DSE)
Provides a forum for development and policy dialogue and advanced training of specialists and executive personnel from developing and transitional countries. http://www.dse.de/dse-e.htm


European Association of Development Research and Training Institute (EADI) 
An independent and non-profit making international NGO. Activities, working groups, and an extensive links section to EADI members and other development institutes/associations which have their own Web sites. http://www.eadi.org/


European Centre for Development Policy Management (ECDPM)
Maintains programmes to promote capacity building, policy dialogue, and information exchange targeted to the needs of countries in Africa, the Caribbean and the Pacific.  http://www.ecdpm.org/ 


Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO)
The site includes links to the FAO's extensive list of publications on all subjects related to agriculture and food security, statistical databases, and a very large online library to agricultural resources. http://www.fao.org/


Friedrich Ebert Foundation-International Development Corporation
A private, non-profit cultural institution committed to the ideas and value of social democracy and the labour movement. German Appropriate Technology Exchange (GATE)

International Development Research Centre (IDRC)

International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI)
IFPRI's mission is to identify and analyse policies for sustainably meeting the food needs of the developing world, and it seeks to make its research results available to all those in a position to use them and to strengthen institutions in developing countries that conduct research relevant to its mandate. In addition to information about IFPRI's work, activities, research and publications, the sites provides access to, or links to, numerous databases and there is also a good collection of other links.

International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED)
An independent organization which promotes sustainable patterns of world development through collaborative research, policy studies, consensus building and public information. http://www.iied.org/  


International Institute for Land Reclamation and Improvement (ILRI) 
The mandate of this independent Dutch organization is to collect and disseminate knowledge for a better and sustainable agriculture in developing countries. http://www.ilri.nl/


International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD)
Promotes sustainable development in decision making, and through its multimedia resource `Linkages' provides an electronic clearing house for information for past and upcoming meetings related to environment and development policy. http://iisd1.iisd.ca/


Intermediate Technology (IT)
ITDG helps people to use technology in their fight against poverty. We work in partnerhsip with communities to develop practical answers to their problems, based on local knowledge and skills and putting people's needs first. ITDG is a charity registered in the United Kingdom which works directly in four regions of the developing world - Latin America, East Africa, Southern Africa and South Asia, with particular concentration on Peru, Kenya, Sudan, Zimbabwe, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal. In these countries, ITDG works with poor communities to develop appropriate technologies in food production, agroprocessing, energy, transport, small enterprise development, shelter, small-scale mining and disaster mitigation. Institut de Recherche pour le Développement (IRD)
A French government-owned public agency that conducts and promotes research within the countries of the South. ORSTOM conducts research into inter-tropical environments and undertakes various programme activities in these areas in co-operation with Southern partners. http://www.ird.fr/  


Netherlands Organization for International Development in Higher Education (NUFFIC)
Co-ordinates Dutch participation in international student exchange programmes, and collaborative links between Dutch institutions and their counterpart academic institutions in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. http://www.nuffic.nl


Nordic Africa Institute/Nordiska Afrikainstitutet (NAI)

North-South Center

Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD)
NORAD is the operational organization responsible for the implementation of Norway's bilateral development co-operation, which is concentrated in three regions—South African and Eastern Africa, Central America, and a number of countries in Asia. http://www.norad.no


Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD)

Research and Technological Exchange Group/Group de Recherche et d'Échanges Technologiques (GRET)/Partners for Media in Africa (PARMA)
GRET is a development support organization that promotes economic and social development in developing countries through a combination of research, action, communication, and a range of publications. Activities include the field of information systems and communication for development, and GRET also hosts the Partners for Media in Africa (PARMA) Web site, established in 1996 in order to facilitate the exchange of information and experience between donors who support African media. Royal Tropical Institute (KIT)
The Institute supports non-Western countries in sustainable development and informs the Dutch public about the tropics and sub-tropics through a wide range of activities. http://www.kit.nl/


SIU Centre for International University Cooperation-Norwegian Council of Universities

Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida)
The new Sida was formed in July 1995 - the result of a merger of four development cooperation agencies - and is responsible for bilateral programmes of Swedish development cooperation and humanitarian assistance. http://www.sida.se


Swiss Commission for Research Partnerships with Developing Countries (KFPE)

Third World Academy of Sciences (TWAS)

United Nations, Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO)

United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)

United Nations Research Institute for Social Development (UNRISD) 
An autonomous agency engaging in multi-disciplinary research on the social dimensions of contemporary problems affecting development.
