Best Free Stuff Online
From March 2001 issue of PC World magazine, this is the sixth instalment of their annual "Free stuff" guide to freebies on the Web, "50-plus useful gems that can help you at work, at home, or at play", each with a short description. It also includes a round up of the best sites for free file downloads, online privacy services, organizing tools, reference works, and music. There is also a section on the caveats and the catches that you should be aware of "when grabbing the gratis goods."

My Docs Online
A "virtual drive" that allows you to store
your personal or work documents on the Web and access them from
any PC or Mac connected to the Internet. You can retrieve files
through drag-and-drop functions from your desktop. The service is
free, but you need to register. http://www.mydocsonline.com/
Tech Support Guy
Provides free help on the Net and serves as a forum for discussion of common problems relating to software and hardware, operating systems, and other areas. The compilers state that "there's no such thing as a stupid question, but they're the easiest to answer". Rather American in its concept and approach, there are nevertheless some good tips and tricks to be found on these pages and which includes an extensive archive.

Web-based Bookmark Managers
Guide to many free services which enable you to access your
bookmarks with any Web browser, i.e. a service where you store
your bookmarks and always have them available from any computer

Xdrive Express
A free service that gives you up to 100MB of storage space to manage and store your personal files, accessible anytime, anywhere, via a standard browser, from any computer in the world. A handy service if you are sending large items across the Internet, and also useful for collaborating with groups working on the same files. You can send files (including photos) to someone by selecting it and clicking on the Xdrive 'Share' button. Enter up to five Email addresses and recipients will then each receive a message with a URL to collect the file from.

ZD Downloads
Part of ZDNet UK this site offers a vast number of downloads
(programs and utilities, games, freeware, demos, etc.) which are
reviewed and virus-tested, together with reviewers' picks and a
