Language and length of articles: Articles in Ecquid Novi are published in English (UK), and occasionally in Afrikaans, Dutch and German. Research articles range between 4 000 to 8 000 words (longer articles are accepted in exceptional cases); discussion articles should not be longer than 2 000 words, and book reviews not longer than a 1 000 words. 

Reference system: Submit all copy according to the Harvard method, e.g. in the text: (Apiesdoring, 2000a:79-82), (Haakdoring & Mosu, 1999) or Apiesdoring (2000b), and in the list of references (footnotes and end notes should be avoided as far as possible): 
Apiesdoring, A.G. 2000a. The shadowy world of news barons. Cape Town: Celtis. (Note: Initials only, body of title is in lower-case, no mention of edition and/or page numbers for monographs.)

Submitting articles: Submit all copy via e-mail before 1 February and 1 June of each year to: [email protected] / [email protected] 

Word for Windows (1998 or later) is preferred. An ASCII file should be submitted for conversion purposes if any other word processing programme is used. Send the copy in Word on a PC compatible disk if e-mail is not available to: The Editor, Ecquid Novi, School for Communication Studies (169), Potchefstroom University, PB X6001, Potchefstroom 2520, South Africa. 
NB: All submitted copy and illustrations, graphs etc. should be proof ready for A5 format. 

Author information: The author's name, title, occupation, place of employment, mailing address, phone, fax and e-mail numbers must be given. 

All references that would identify the author/s should be removed from the copy to be submitted to the referees. 
Full particulars should be submitted if the article is based on a conference paper. Submitted articles should not have been published elsewhere. Authors take full responsibility for obtaining publication permission for the use of material that might be protected by the copyright of third parties. 

Abstract: Submit an abstract of 125 words in English, and, where possible, an Afrikaans version of 125 words as well. (An Afrikaans abstract of 125 words, as well as an English abstract of 600 words should be included for all articles in Afrikaans, Dutch and German). 

Include 10 keywords for indexing purposes. 

Referees: All research and academic overview articles are externally refereed. 

Book reviews: Books for review purposes should be sent to the Editor: Ecquid Novi, PO Box 20603, Noordbrug 2522, South Africa. 

Honorarium: No honorarium is paid, but contributors receive complimentary copies of Ecquid Novi.
