HIF Study VisitsHIF Study Visits maximize the value of sponsorship of leading presenters from developing countries. This system allows for a personalized, integrated range of activities, including linkages and collaboration with UK-based organizations, and specific training modules provided by publishers, medical libraries and academic institutions. In each case, the visitor gives a lead presentation at the Health Information Forum, and in addition undertakes a 2-3 week series of meetings and training with a wide range of organizations, organized by INASP-Health. This is done in collaboration with other UK-based organizations so as to share resources and costs, and add value to all visits by international colleagues. Recent HIF Study Visits have included: 1. James Falaiye (Managing Editor, Journal of Reproductive Health, Nigeria) November 2001 "Christiana Brown and Elizabeth Smith of Healthlink Worldwide visited WHARC last two weeks. It is a follow-up on the project we are planning in collaboration with them, courtesy my visit to the UK. Your effort is highly appreciated by us all here." James Falaiye 2. Caroline Nyamai (Coordinator, AfriAfya, Kenya) January 2002 "Cooperation with external partners and international organizations has contributed to the success of the project. Such interaction has been possible through email lists such as HIF-net at WHO, through events such as the Universal Access to Health Information videoconference (see INASP Newsletter, June 2001), and through face-to-face meetings such as Health Information Forum (in January 2002, AfriAfya was sponsored by the BMA, Exchange, and INASP to present the project at the British Medical Association). Learning from others with relevant experience has meant that we have not had to reinvent the wheel." Caroline Nyamai 3. Ibrahima Bob (Secretary General, Association for Health Information and Libraries in Africa, Senegal) July 2002 "Thank you [to the 25 individuals and organizations which I visited during my visit]. I hope this is a beginning of a fruitful collaboration between you, your institutions and the Association for Health Information and Libraries in Africa (AHILA). It was great to see you all." Ibrahima Bob. |
