Banque de Données Santé Publique French
This is a French-language resource. It is intended mainly for public health professionals in France. However, the site includes a useful thesaurus of health science and related areas. It also includes an extensive French-language gateway, although most of the recommended sites are French or European and very few have a focus on developing countries. http://www.bdsp.tm.fr/


BIOME: The Hub for Internet Resources in Health and Life Sciences
BIOME includes five gateways: BioResearch (biological and biomedical research), OMNI (clinical medicine), Natural Selection (plant and animal life, ecology and the environment), VetGate (veterinary medicine) and AgriFor (agriculture, forestry and food sciences). Selections are peer reviewed by UK academics and clinicians. http://biome.ac.uk/


BioMedNet: The Internet Community of Biological and Medical Researchers
This site contains access an online library, evaluated MEDLINE, BioMedLink (evaluated and annotated database of Internet resources) and other features. Registration is required (free). http://www.bmn.com/


Catalogue et Index des Sites Médicaux Francophones (CISMeF) French
This gateway contains links to French language health-related websites. The site includes bibliographies, databases, email lists, electronic journals, medical organizations and academic institutions. It also contains a page of links to email discussion lists for medical librarians. The site includes a keyword search index and is maintained by the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire, Rouen, France. http://www.chu-rouen.fr/cismef/


Dynamic Medical Information System (DynaMed)
DynaMed provides information on over 1800 clinical topics, organized for clinically intuitive browsing, and is updated daily based on systematic surveillance of more than 400 journals (directly or through ten journal review services) and other evidence-based sources. DynaMed requires registration. After a 30-day trial, continued access is obtained by (1) paid subscription, (2) contributing as a reviewer or author, or (3) in 144 resource-poor countries, free access can be obtained by e-mailing [email protected] and stating your role and country of practice. http://www.dynamicmedical.com


Galaxy: Health

Hardin Meta Directory Spanish
This meta gateway ('gateway of gateways') contains links to sites in numerous clinical subjects that include gateways, fulltext information, illustrations and free PubMed articles. It also contains access to related fulltext sites in Spanish and a keyword search index. The site is maintained by the Hardin Library for the Health Sciences, University of Iowa, U.S.http://www.lib.uiowa.edu/hardin/md/


Health Services/Technology Assessment Text (HSTAT)
HSTAT provides free access to full-text clinical guidelines, quick reference guidelines for clinicians, and consumer brochures. The site is maintained by the National Library of Medicine, U.S. http://hstat.nlm.nih.gov/


Health Systems Trust (HST)Focus on DCs
HST is a leading clearinghouse for information related to health care in South Africa. The site includes information about HealthLink, a project of HST to meet the communication and information needs of health workers in South Africa. There is also an extensive gateway to information resources relevant to those involved in public health and health systems development. The links are arranged by subject and are regularly updated. HST hosts email discussion lists, including Doctors' Dialogue [mailadoc], which provides practical support to rural doctors. http://www.hst.org.za/


INFOMINE: Scholarly Internet Resources Collection - Biological, Agricultural and Medical Sciences

Internet Public Library: Health and Medical Sciences Resources
The ARGUS Clearinghouse identifies, describes and evaluates Internet information resources. Library of Congress, U.S.: Portals to the World Focus on DCs
Portals to the World contain selective links providing authoritative, in-depth information about the nations of the world. They are arranged by country or area with the links to a wide range of broad categories including health. While not primarily a health gateway, many of the sub-pages contain annotated links to fulltext health sites within specific countries. Medscape: Home Pages
The site provides links to full-text clinical medicine articles enhanced with keyword searches, graphics, and annotated links to Internet resources. It is organized into 28 specialty and 6 international home pages with news, patient information and medical images. Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Professionals (NMAP)
NMAP site is a gateway to evaluated, quality Internet resources, aimed at students, researchers, academics and practitioners. It is closely related to the OMNI gateway. Like OMNI, it does not have a focus on developing country needs, but is nevertheless a valuable resource for health professionals worldwide. http://nmap.ac.uk/ 


Occupational and Environmental Medicine
The site is a comprehensive, annotated list of links to U.S. governmental, non-governmental and international sites that deal with occupational and environmental medicine. http://dmi-www.mc.duke.edu/oem/


top 20 'General Resources' Organizing Medical Networked Information (OMNI)
OMNI is a guide to evaluated medicine and bioscience Internet resources: 'the UK's gateway to high quality biomedical Internet resources'. Although the main end user is the UK health professional, the site is of value to health professionals worldwide. http://omni.ac.uk

This is a list of annotated links for medical, premedical and postgraduate students. World Health Organization: Health TopicsFocus on DCs
This WHO site links to full-text information (clinical, preventive medicine and research) on the following topics: communicable/infectious diseases, tropical diseases, vaccine-preventable diseases, non-communicable diseases, environment, family and reproductive health, health policies, statistics, and systems, health technology and lifestyle.
