The purpose is to make it easier for anybody to find useful information on that subject. Before being added to the list, each website is evaluated by one or more professionals. If websites are considered to be reliable and relevant, they are included on the list. To help the users select the best information, each recommended webpage contains an annotated description of the site. Gateways generally place quality over quantity, but may have a large number of recommended sites, in which case the sites are commonly organized into sections and subsections.
