Hope for African Children Initiative This initiative is a community-based, pan-African effort created to address the challenges faced by children who have been orphaned by the AIDS pandemic or whose parents are sick or dying of AIDS-related illnesses. Established in the summer of 2000, this is a partnership of five non-governmental organizations: CARE, Plan International, World Conference on Religion and Peace, Save the Children, and the Society of Women and AIDS in Africa.
