Academia Brasileira de Ciencias
Promotes the advancement of scientific research in Brazil, and
provides a forum for debate and collaboration among the

The African Academy of Sciences (AAS)
The AAS aims to mobilize and strengthen the scientific community
in Africa and capacity building in science and technology,
publish and disseminate scientific materials, and undertake

African Centre for Technology Studies (ACTS) An international inter-governmental policy research and training organization located in Nairobi. African Medical and Research Foundation (AMREF)
AMREF is a field-orientated organization which, in partnership
with communities, governments, and donors, seeks to improve heath
care in African through service delivery, research, and

Association of African Universities (AAU)
Promotes interchange, contact, and cooperation among African
universities, and disseminates information on higher education

Caribbean Academy of Sciences (CAS)
Provides a forum for interchange and facilitates cooperation
among scientists on important issues related to the application

Centre for Energy, Environment, Science and Technology
(CEEST)
Based in Dar es Salaam, CEEST's mission is to develop and
sustains expertise and capacity for independent policy analysis,
and research and information dissemination., in the field of
energy, environment, water and sanitation, and natural resource

Council for the Development of Social Science Research in
Africa (CODESRIA)
CODESRIA's principal objectives are to facilitate research,
promote research-based publishing, and to create multiple fora
geared towards the exchange of views and information among

Environmental Development Action in the Third World (ENDA)
ENDA works with grassroots groups on the basis of their needs and
objectives, contributes to the search for alternative
developments possibilities at all levels, and supports a variety

Indian Academy of Sciences (IAS)
The Academy, founded in 1934, "aims at promoting the progress and upholding the cause of science in pure and applied branches." International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology
(ICIPE)
Aims to strengthen scientific and technological capacity in
developing countries in the field of insect science, and its

IITA seeks to increase agricultural production in a sustainable
way, in order to improve the nutritional status and well-being of

Malaysian Science and Technology Information Centre
(MASTIC)
A national reference centre for scientific and technology
information, focussing on the collection and dissemination
related to S&T activities in Malaysia. With links to the
MASTIC Library, and a number of links to other S&T centres

National Council for Scientific and Technological Research
(CONICIT) [Venezuela]
Promotes the development of science and technology, fosters
educational and technological progress, and coordinates the
activities of the varies bodies engaged in scientific research in

National Council of Science and Technology (CONACYT) [Mexico]
Aims to strengthen scientific research and technological
modernization, and assists the Mexican government in developing,

The FRD is responsible for developing human resources in South
Africa with research expertise in the field of the natural and
applied sciences, engineering and technology, and pursues joint

and Southern Africa (OSSREA)
OSSREA, with headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia,

Southern African Research and Documentation Centre (SARDC)
Seeks to improve the base of knowledge about regional economic,
political, cultural and social developments by making information
accessible to policy makers, NGOs, the private sector,
development agencies and the media, in the regional and

Sustainable Development Networking Programme (India)
The Sustainable Development Networking Programme-India (SNDP) is a joint initiative of UNDP, IDRC and the Ministry of Environment and Forests of the government of India. Globally it links together government organizations, the private sector, universities, NGOs and individuals in over 80 countries spread over Asia, Africa, and Latin America through electronic and other networking vehicles, for the purpose of exchanging critical information on sustainable development
