67th ILFA Council and General Conference 2001-Proceedings
This IFLA site provides access to some of the papers that were presented at the 67th IFLA conference in Boston in August 2001, which includes several papers and perspectives by librarians from Africa, Asia and Latin America.

AcqWeb
Hosted by Vanderbilt University Library in Canada, this is an excellent starting point for librarians and provides a massive number of links covering sections (all international in scope) on verification tools and bibliographic resources, a directory of publishers and vendors, library associations and organizations, the field of library and information sciences, journals, newsletters and electronic discussion groups for librarians, plus a wide variety of reference sources. Additionally there are sections providing links to guides to getting started on the Web, and resources for specific areas of librarianship. The site is fully searchable. AcqWeb's online directories of publishers' and vendors' Web sites (including an Email directory of publishers) is one of the most comprehensive currently available, and where you can search for publisher by name, by geographical region, or by subject specialization.

This useful document (currently compiled by Wei Wu at the Washington Research Consortium) is a directory of electronic discussion lists and online forums, distribution lists, and serials that are of interest to library professionals. From a subject index you can pick an area of librarianship of particular interest, for example acquisitions, cataloguing/bibliographic services, digital libraries, information literacy, law libraries, library education, medial/health libraries, music libraries, reference/information services, serials, technical services, etc.

Revitalizing African Libraries: The Challenge of a
Crisis
Report from the Carnegie Corporation in New York about a
conference convened by Carnegie in May 2000 which brought
together some 25 international donors and librarians to explore
issues of literacy, information technology, and access to global
knowledge as they relate to African public and university
libraries. The report summarizes the discussions that took place,
